Glucosamine is an amino sugar that is naturally found in our human organism, especially in bones and cartilage. We absorb some glucosamine from natural food, as it is contained in small amounts here. However, there are some indications that many people have an additional need for maintaining or building up their physical stores of glucosamine - especially in old age the organism is no longer able to absorb sufficient glucosamine from food.
Glucosamine, for example, is an important component of synovial fluid. When the body doesn't have enough glucosamine, the fluid becomes thinner and more watery, the joints lack proper lubrication and are more susceptible to wear and injury.
The body's own building blocks glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are contained in all important body tissues. However, their main importance lies in the development and maintenance of tissue structures of the musculoskeletal system. Connective tissue, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, bones and healthy joints with enough synovial fluid depend on an adequate supply of these substances. Aloe Vera Freedom from FLP contains glucosamine and chondroitin.
Glucosamine is primarily marketed in two varieties, glucosamine sulfate and glucosamine hydrochloride (HCl). The former is the most tested, and by and large all scientific research is based on this variant. It is known that between 90-98% of glucosamine sulphate is absorbed via the digestive tract, while the HCl variant is less safe. For this reason alone we only offer the sulphate.
What is glucosamine made from?
Glucosamine can be found in shellfish and also in the bones of e.g. B. cattle. Due to the risk of Creutzfeld-Jacob Syndrome, all reputable suppliers today only use glucosamine derived from shellfish. So you can be sure that products from Forever Living Products contain no meat or bone meal.
Since, as mentioned, glucosamine is already found in large quantities in the organism and in our daily food, it is not a foreign substance but a dietary supplement.
Note:
Because glucosamine is derived from shellfish, people with a shellfish allergy are advised not to use the product. The same applies to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
